Connect ReadShore to your AI assistant
Connect ReadShore to an AI assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT. You can ask it to find something you saved, work from an article’s summary or saved text, or save a link for later, without leaving the conversation. It can’t delete anything or mark it as read.
Before you start
You need a ReadShore account. Sign in to ReadShore on your iPhone once before you connect.
Your assistant needs to support custom connectors, also called custom MCP servers. Some plans and work accounts turn them off.
Add ReadShore to your assistant
Every assistant uses the same address:
https://readshore.app/mcpClaude
On claude.ai or in the Claude app, go to Customize › Connectors and choose Add custom connector. Paste the address, choose Add, then Connect. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings › Connectors first.
ChatGPT
Open chatgpt.com/plugins, choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it ReadShore, paste the address under Connection, choose OAuth, then Create as a plugin.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http readshore https://readshore.app/mcpThen type /mcp in Claude Code and sign in.
Codex
codex mcp add readshore --url https://readshore.app/mcp
codex mcp login readshoreCursor
Add ReadShore to mcpServers in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"readshore": { "url": "https://readshore.app/mcp" }
}
}VS Code
Open the Command Palette, run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP and paste the address.
Other assistants
Add the address as a remote MCP server that uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth sign-in.
Approve the connection
Your assistant opens readshore.app/connect. Sign in with the Apple Account you use in ReadShore. The page shows the assistant’s name and where you’ll return after you choose. Check that both match the assistant you’re using, then choose Allow.
What you can ask
Find: “Find the article I saved about subscription pricing,” or “Which saved articles have I left unread the longest?”
Read: “Summarize the main argument of that article and compare it with my notes.” The assistant can read the saved text, and ReadShore’s Summary & Analysis when it exists. Answers cite the saved source with numbered passages, so you can check them.
Save: “Save this link to ReadShore.” It appears in Shore, unread, the next time the app syncs. Your assistant may ask you to confirm before it saves.
What it can and can’t do
Your assistant may show these action names when it asks for permission:
| Action | What it does | Changes your library |
|---|---|---|
readshore_search_saved_items | Finds saves by words, read state or date saved | No |
readshore_read_saved_item | Reads one save’s Summary & Analysis or saved text | No |
readshore_save_link | Saves a link | Adds an item, never removes one |
A connected assistant can’t mark articles as read, set them aside for Later, delete them or change your ReadShore settings. It doesn’t start Summary & Analysis. A link it saves follows your Summary & Analysis setting in the app, like a link you save yourself.
ReadShore allows 60 requests per minute per reader, shared by all your connected assistants. Past that, your assistant is asked to try again in a minute.
Privacy and safety
What your assistant reads is sent to its provider, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, and handled under that provider’s privacy policy. ReadShore logs each request without its content. The Connected assistants section of our Privacy Policy lists what we keep and for how long.
Saved pages are written by other people, and some contain text aimed at AI assistants. ReadShore labels saved text as page content, separate from your own requests. Keep your assistant’s approval prompts on, especially for saving links.
Disconnect an assistant
Open readshore.app/connect, sign in with Apple and choose Disconnect next to the assistant. Its access ends right away. Then remove ReadShore in the assistant’s connector settings. Deleting your ReadShore account also removes every connection.
If something goes wrong
“Set up ReadShore first”: this Apple Account has no ReadShore library yet. Sign in to ReadShore on your iPhone with the same Apple Account, then connect again from your assistant.
“This request has expired”: start connecting again from your assistant.
No option for custom connectors: your plan or work account may not allow them. Ask your workspace owner.
After you disconnect, connecting again asks you to sign in and choose Allow again.
